Alison Sykes

Alison is a 350 hour registered yoga teacher, mum to three crazy boys and an unashamed latte addict. She first practised yoga in her early university days as a Bachelor of Education student at Brisbane's QUT, little did she know then that it was THIS teaching that would be her life path.

Alison remembers studying her mother's Reader's Digest Health Almanac as a seven year old, and being fascinated by the bendy shapes made by a lithe woman in a shiny blue unitard, and at age 10 she was introduced to the pure joy of meditation and relaxation by her Grade 5 teacher Miss Thirkettle at her Rockhampton primary school.

After discovering yoga at university and cementing her love of the practice with twice weekly classes at her local gym, she researched teacher training and found Carrie-Anne Fields of My Health Yoga. There she began her dedicated and diverse approach to training. Since the completion of her initial 200 hour teacher training in 2007 she has gone on to study prenatal & postnatal yoga, therapeutics, kids yoga, vinyasa yoga and bhakti yoga.

In Alison's classes you will be guided to radical self-acceptance. Her classes are most strongly influenced by the heart based, alignment focused principles of Anusara Yoga, but are a unique offering strengthened by Alison's decade of experience in exploring how the practice can be adapted to each student's individuality. Utilising a slow flow approach allows Alison to ensure that each student is well grounded before moving into faster and more challenging sequences.

Alison has trained with many senior teachers including John Friend, Desiree Rumbaugh, Ross Rayburn, Alison Potts and Keren Cooksey. One of her core values is to be open to learning something new everyday, and she's thrilled to be able to offer the same delight of discovery to her students.

Alisa Clarke

Alisa started practicing yoga in 2014 to help increase strength and mobility to cope with a hip disorder diagnosed in her teens. After experiencing the combined physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga during her first pregnancy, she then leaned on her yoga practice to help adjust to early parenthood and survive postnatal depression. This experience inspired her to share yoga with others as a ‘whole self’ self-care practice, completing her 200-hour yoga teaching certification in 2021. Alisa is committed to ongoing development having completed subsequent training in restorative and yin yoga and is working towards her pre and postnatal yoga qualification. She is also currently studying a post-graduate diploma of psychology at the University of Adelaide.
While being a mum of two young boys, these days her yoga practice maintains a sense of feeling grounded, focused and calm in the face of life’s day-to-day challenges. Alisa offers an accessible and nourishing experience that aims to empower students in their yoga practice, both on and off the mat, leaving them feeling grounded and inspired in their own overall well-being.
